I’ve been reading Jenn’s blog, A Beautiful Zen, for a while now, and not just because we share an awesome name. She’s as sweet as they come and I’m super excited she’s guest posting today!

Beauty Tool Kit

Hi! It’s Jenn from A Beautiful Zen guesting on Jenn’s (trippy lol) blog. Surgeons have scalpels. Firemen have hoses. Framers have hammers. Looking at all the metal beauty contraptions I have, it’s clear that I have my own tools as well! And that’s not even consider the numerous brushes that I own. Granted, I’m not going to be saving lives, extinguishing fires or putting up houses (which really…are far more admirable uses for tools) but these are in my arsenal to get the beauty job done.

The tool kit is pretty extensive. Starting off in the washroom, my more than basic beauty needs require possession of the Clarisonic Mia Cleansing Brush and Pore Cleansing Brush Pad Thing. The Gilette Venus Razor is my hair banishing tool of choice and Q-Tips and Delon Cotton Rounds are necessities.

The pseudo-surgical tools sitting on my desk can roughly be broken down into nails, eyes, and face.

Nail clippers and a nail art dotting tool (which I used all of once) are the barest basics for nail care.

My eye related needs are a bit more complex. A mascara shield keeps makeup looks clean. My Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, Revlon Diamond Tipped Tweezers, and another random pair of tweezers deal with some of my hair related needs. If you don’t have diamond tipped tweezers, you’re missing out! Nothing grips better. The eyebrows are groomed with a pair of scissors and comb. Finally, a pencil sharpener is a must in any beauty kit.

For the face, hair clips keep stuff out of my face and a makeup palette makes mixing concealers, and cream products easy. I also have my evil extractor tool which I have welded against not only my pores but the bf’s rather large clogged pores as well. He hates this thing and never lets me get close to his nose with it, unless he’s too tired to avoid my powerful persuasive (read: fighting) skills that day.

I didn’t show it but I couldn’t accomplish anything without my stand up mirror.

The last place you will find items of my kit is in my purse. There usually isn’t much but at the very least there will always be a mirror. A mini perfume atomizer (which is the Ebay version of the Travolo at $4) makes perfume reapplication easy and great for vacations.

Honestly, all this metal just to put a ‘face’ together. I wonder sometimes if these are all necessary but being prepared is sometimes better than being without. What thinks you?

What are your some of your “surgical” beauty tools? Are they all necessities?
