After I did my Shop My Stash with my MAC Quads, I’ve been a bit obsessed with palettes. It’s funny, because they used to be one of the most neglected things in my collection.

Enter Bobbi Brown Smokey Warm Eye Palette. It came out for the holidays last year, but I recently snagged it at Murale here in Toronto, so there are still some kicking around in stores I’m sure. As a bonus, I got this free by redeeming my Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points!

Anyway, I have limited experience with Bobbi Brown eye shadows, and I’ve been on a neutral kick, so this seemed like the perfect palette to pick up. It comes with 6 shadows – 3 matte, 2 metallic and 1 sparkle. I’m not a huge fan of the sparkle finish, it is essentially just glitter, but I could see it being nice over a finished look, just as long as you’re careful about glitter fallout.

Ivory, Antique Gold, Blonde, Chiffon, Golden Chocolate, Espresso

All the shadows are nicely pigmented (except for the sparkle finish), and they blend nicely. Ivory makes a great highlight colour and Blonde is a great crease or transition colour. It’s nice to find a palette to include both so you can get your whole look from this rather than using a few shadows from this and still having to use other things to complete your look. I think that’s one thing that annoys me about palettes sometimes. I don’t like having to fish around in my eye shadow drawer and think about what I want to pair with what.

I really like that you could easily create a subtle day look or a dramatic smokey night look with this as well, so it’s very versatile.

Do you have any Bobbi Brown Eye Palettes? Do you like palettes or single shadows more?

Oh for sure, I’m not really into the sparkle shades but the others make up for it. I need to get my hands on some more pot rouges. And I have yet to try a shimmer brick!

I guess compared to some other palettes at the same price with more shadows, you’re right. I got this free with optimum points though so no complaints from me! I’d probably pay for it too, I really like the shadows in here and it’s a bit more compact than some other palettes, good for travel.
